PHLEBOTOMY SERVICE

We have trained staff who are able to take your bloods and send it off the same day for analysis at the hospital in Bradford. Some of these blood tests may be sent to Leeds depending  upon the nature of the particular blood test and hence it might take longer for your blood result to come back to us. For all routine blood tests, it usually takes two days for the results to be available at our surgery.

How will I get my test results?

1. Blood tests

If your blood test is abnormal and action is needed, you will be contacted by the surgery. If you are not contacted, this means either the test was normal, or can be discussed at your next routine review.

If you do not hear from us but would like to know your result, please ring the surgery AFTER 1pm (the doctors check test results after morning surgery).

The practice will have results for many simple blood tests (such as blood count, liver/kidney tests, diabetes, cholesterol or salt levels) the afternoon following your blood test. For more specialised blood tests you may have to wait longer.

2. X-ray results

For your  X-rays please go to St. Luke Hospital before 4 PM any weekday, where you should be able to get the x-ray done fairly straight away. We should have the result of your X-ray available with us 10 days after it was taken.

For your ECGs or 24 Hr BP Monitoring you will be asked to visit the Westbourne Green Centre at Oak Lane in Bradford, where the staff will perform the necessary tests for you.
